Are Ray-Ban’s Polarized?

Ray-Ban® offers a selection of polarized and non-polarized sunglasses.

Polarized lenses include a special film that helps them filter light and eliminates glare. This can improve visual clarity, enhance contrast and reduce eye strain. Polarized lenses are useful for driving, other outdoor activities or sensitive eyesight.

If this is a necessity for your eyesight, be sure to check that the sunglasses meet these requirements before you purchase.

Are Ray-Ban Lenses Glass?

Ray-Ban® no longer makes its lenses out of 100% glass. To prioritise both customer safety and product longevity, whilst still giving top-quality clarity, they instead use either crystal lenses or polycarbonate lenses.

Crystal lenses are made up of 50% glass and 50% polycarbonate. Ray-Ban® still includes an element of glass into their lenses for precision, contrast and scratch-resistant durability.

Ray-Ban® also produces sunglasses with completely polycarbonate lenses. Polycarbonate plastic is highly impact-resistant and lightweight making it ideal for wearers with an active lifestyle or those prone to dropping their sunglasses.

Can Ray-Ban Frames be Repaired?

Ray-Ban® frames can be repaired, however, you shouldn’t try to repair your sunglasses yourself. Take your sunglasses to a professional for the most efficient, long-lasting results.

To find out if the repair is covered by warranty, don’t hesitate to contact us

Can Ray-Bans be Adjusted?

Our selection of Ray-Ban® sunglasses is listed with a full product description, including lens type, size dimensions and frame materials so you can make an informed decision to best suit your needs.

For any further tweaks, we recommend seeking out a professional to precisely and carefully accommodate your sunglasses exactly how you wish.

If you’d like to adjust your Ray-Ban® sunglasses to include prescription lenses, it is advisable to seek the help of a professional optician as they will prioritise the needs of your eyesight whilst completing your sunglasses to a professional standard.

Can Ray-Ban Lenses be Polished?

The specially-treated microfiber cloth provided with your Ray-Ban® sunglasses can be used to polish the lenses. The material of the cloth is specifically engineered to tackle smudges without damaging the lens itself.

Make sure that any pieces of grit or dirt are removed before polishing to prevent rubbing in any further marks or scratches.

Look below for further explanations on how to clean your Ray-Ban® sunglasses efficiently.

How Did Ray-Ban Get its Name?

The first pair of Ray-Ban® sunglasses, the Aviators, were created as an alternative to goggles with the ability to defend pilots’ eyes from the sunlight whilst in flight.

The brand’s name simply derives from their function – their promise to ban the rays from the sun.

It’s really as straightforward as that, and they’ve lived up to their name thus far!

Do Ray-Bans Have UV Protection?

All Ray-Ban® sunglasses have UV protection, but the exact level of protection varies from lens to lens.

Whilst Ray-Ban® are famous for their sleek and stylish designs, eyesight protection is central to the brand. Ensuring that the sunglasses shield the wearer from ultraviolet light is a top priority.

For maximum protection select a pair that comes with 100% UVA protection, and are marked CE UV400.

How to Clean Ray-Bans?

To optimise the quality of your Ray-Ban® sunglasses, it’s important to keep them clean.

  • If your glasses are very dirty (food, sand, grit, etc.) rinse them with clean water and gently remove any debris to prevent any further scratches from being scrubbed into the lens.
  • Don’t use cotton or paper towels to clean your glasses. These can leave scratches or fibres on the lenses. Instead, opt for a specialist microfiber cleaning cloth. Each pair of Ray-Ban® sunglasses comes with a professional cleaning cloth specially made for the sunglasses.
  • Steer clear of standard glass cleaners and sprays. Use an optical cleaner and lightly mist the front and back of the lens from a distance. Then take the microfiber cloth and wipe the lens from side to side to polish.
