Step-by-step boot care
Dubarry boots are made to last, but regular care can help them last even longer. Here’s our 7-step guide to keeping your Dubarry boots in tip-top condition.
Step 1: Remove
Mud, manure and salt water are not kind to leather, so it’s important to remove them from your boots. Using clean water and a brush, scrub away any dirt and grime from the leather.
Step 2: Apply
For stubborn dirt, you might want to use Dubarry footwear cleaner. Take a soft brush and work the cleaner into the leather to lift away ingrained residue.
Step 3: Rinse
Wash away any excess product under a stream of clean water.
Step 4: Dry
You now need to leave your boots to dry naturally for at least 24 hours. Don’t be tempted to leave them next to a radiator or near an open fire to speed up the drying process. Be patient and you’ll get the best results.
Step 5: Spray
Once your boots are dry, you can apply Dubarry footwear protector spray. Apply several thin layers all over the boot, allowing each one to be absorbed into the leather before applying the next. Ideally, this step will be done outdoors.
Step 6: Dry (again)
This time, drying should take between two to three hours. Again, be sure to leave them to dry naturally. Once they are fully dried, a gentle buff with a soft cloth will help restore the colour even more.
Step 7: Rub
Apply Dubarry leather cream to the smooth leather to restore the finish of your boots. Rub it in with a soft brush or cloth. Pay particular attention to the areas that bend as you walk. Wipe off excess cream and give them a final buff.

When you’re not wearing your Dubarry boots, you want to keep them in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight. If possible, store on a boot tree to help maintain the shape.
