A Scottish masterpiece and one of the best dark comedies to ever be filmed, Trainspotting is our penultimate pick. Following a group of heroin addicts and exploring identity, friendship, and addictions, Trainspotting may not sound like a film with that would have much going for it in terms of the fashion… but you would be massively mistaken. Not only is Trainspotting a cinematic masterpiece, that is incredibly written, but its wardrobe is equally as impressive.

Bomber jackets and ripped jeans can be seen, to oversized suits with yellow tinted sunglasses, or even a Nike shell suit – this film includes almost every subcultural dress code. To further this the film subtly explores the idea of gender norms, as is very prominent in contemporary fashion – Renton (the main protagonist) wears grungy cropped t shirts as has been the rage on any high fashion runway show for the past couple of years, showcasing the subtly stylish looks of this film. Given its huge array of outfits this film is the perfect inspiration no matter your style.
