It’s official – April 12th has finally been confirmed as the date for reopening the beer gardens and outdoor seating areas of pubs and restaurants in England. Not only this, but the outdoor rule of 6 has now been in place since the end of March, and friends and families all across the country have been gathering in gardens and parks to socialise together for the first time in months.
But how are you meant to dress for these outdoor social gatherings?
The British weather is well-known for being extremely hit or miss, and already this April we’ve seen weather taken from all four seasons of the year (including snow!).
Here are our top tips for how to dress when heading outdoors for dining, drinking and gathering this Spring.
Staying Warm Outside
Springtime in the UK often treats us with horrendous winter-like weather, and usually sitting outdoors at this time of year isn’t our first choice.
However, staying warm outdoors can be done fashionably, and doesn’t have to leave you with choosing between style and warmth.
Dressy coats and ankle boots are ideal for keeping warm in situations where looking good is key. Whether you wear your coat over jeans and a jumper or a maxi-skirt and top, a nice tailored coat instantly boosts the appearance of any outfit, while ankle boots keep your feet warm whilst adding at least a hint of a heel to offer you that boost without the need for painful heels and stilettos.

Key Pieces For Staying Warm
No matter what the weather is like when you head out, chances are that it’s about to get much colder in the evening.
We recommend always bringing a bag of clothing to carry with you and add to your outfit if necessary, with the essentials being: a piece of knitwear (such as a cardigan that can slide over the top of clothing), a light jacket and a scarf.

Keeping Protected From The Sun
Even if you can’t always feel the heat, the sun’s rays are still strong enough to damage your skin and eyesight.
Especially if you know you’re going to be sitting outside for an extensive amount of time, make sure you bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a cap or hat to protect your head.
