How To Wear UGGs – Style Guide

In 1978, a young Australian surfer based in Southern California founded UGG. Incorporating a love of sheepskin into their designs, UGG has since become a household name when it comes to cosy and comfortable footwear.

The first UGG design to make a dent in the British fashion scene was the classic UGG boot. Worn by celebrities such as Alexa Chung, UGG boots were quick to become a casual boot that still managed to ooze luxury with a designer name.

Today, UGG is back in fashion and as popular as it was in the ’00s, but now we are no longer constricted to boots.

From UGG slides to UGG trainers, there are many different styles of UGG footwear, but do you know how to wear them all? The expert team at Hurleys have produced this style guide to help you.

Winter

The perfect time of year for a warm pair of UGG footwear is most definitely winter.

UGG uses only the highest-grade twin-face sheepskin available. Treated on both the fleece side and the skin side, to make the soft comfort that UGG is so famous for.

This makes them perfect for winter, with the sheepskin being naturally thermostatic to keep bare feet close to your natural body temperature no matter what the temperature outside is.

Style a pair of women’s UGG boots with a pair of skinny jeans and knitwear to achieve the classic UGG boot look that has made a comeback in the recent months.

Here at Hurleys, our range of UGG offers a variety of men’s UGG boots in individual and masculine designs that are made to keep feet warm just like women’s.

With wool inside to keep the feet insulated as well as a waterproof exterior, the UGG men’s grizzly Neuland waterproof Chukka boots make for the ideal winter boot. Style with a sweatshirt and jeans for a casual look, or wrap up warm with a coat or jacket.

Summer

Once, it was deemed unreasonable to wear UGG footwear in the Summer months. Now, everything has changed, and while we still don’t recommend wearing woollen UGG boots while it’s hot, there are a few other UGG styles you can choose from.

For women, UGG sandals, flip flops and sliders are great for taking on holiday or wearing when the sun is shining. With an imprint UGG footbed, these shoes mould to your feet for ultimate comfort and protection.

Wear with a dress or a nice top and skirt for a glamorous Summertime look.

Men’s UGG flip flops and beach shoes look good with a pair of shorts and a tee or even opt for swim shorts.

Casual

One of the beauties of UGG footwear is that it’s so comfortable it can also be worn as a slipper. As well as this, UGG offers its slipper collection in both men’s and women’s styles.

UGG fluffy slippers are a speciality, while men’s ascot slippers are a classic. Wear with a cosy pair of pyjamas or sweats for a cosy day in.

Formal

While maybe not as formal as a stiletto or brogue shoe, UGG footwear can still be worn to parties or other occasions that require a shoe that lies somewhere between casual and formal.

For example, pair UGG sandals or metallic leather slides with a fancy dress to instantly dress up a summer staple. If it’s a bit colder outside, opt for a chunky pair of UGG leather boots.

When it comes to men’s style, wear UGG trainers with a smart pair of jeans and a shirt, or go for the rugged look with a pair of boots.
